ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

The KLE Institute of Physiotherapy stands testimony to the high professional standards aimed for and achieved by Karnataka Lingayat Education (K.L.E) Society who is sponsoring organization. Physiotherapy is the lifeline for modern health care in terms of reduced patient care as a whole. The institute aims for quality Physiotherapy education and patient care with state of art and modern physiotherapy facilities at the institute hospital and research infrastructure at the college.

Established in the year 1994 as a Department of Physiotherapy at KLE Society J.N Medical College Belagavi works with a mission to educate, mentor, train and empower students in the field of physiotherapy education, research and clinical practice.

Today the institute stands tall at both national and international levels, as it completes twenty-five (25) years of excellence and dedicated services to both teaching and patient care. Besides undergraduate course, the institute presently offers 10 specialties at postgraduate level and Ph.D.

ABOUT KLE ACADEMY OF HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH

KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research was established on 13th April, 2006 as per the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Notification No.F.9-19/2000-U-3(A), on the guidance of the University Grants Commission with two constituent units Medical and Dental. Later in the year 2009, eight constituent units viz colleges of Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Nursing were included under its ambit. KAHER Homeopathic Medical College and hospital Belagavi, Karnataka is the new constituent unit of University added in the year 2018.

After the conferment of Deemed-to-be-University status the prime focus of the University has been quality sustenance and enhancement with specific future plans for quality enhancement in academics and research. The university within a short time has achieved accolades and today stands confidently with its triple ‘A’ status that includes NAAC “A” grade with CGPA of 3.34 in cycle 2 in the year 2016, category ‘A’ by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and Grade ‘A’ by University Grants Commission.  University has Autonomy by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India Category-II’ by UGC. University has secured 57th Rank among all Indian Universities,  and  84th Rank in Overall Category by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2018. It has also been positioned 3rd rank among all Indian Universities at Swachhta Ranking 2018.

The University is strongly supported by KLE Society (Karnataka Lingayat Education Society), the sponsoring society of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, that was established in November 1916 by seven dedicated teachers, who are founder life members of KLE Society with the sole aim of imparting education to the socially and educationally backward region of North Karnataka of the then Bombay Province, fondly called as “SAPTARISHIS’. With their foresight, dedication, perseverance and with the timely support of philanthropic people KLE Society grew in strength with time. Today, KLE Society is an organization with 254 institutions in various parts of the country of global repute, imparting education from Kindergarten to Post-doctoral courses in almost all faculties with a faculty strength of 16,000 teachers educating 1,25,000 students from all over the world. The University is headed by a visionary Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore, who is also the Chairman of the sponsoring KLE Society since 28 years. His foresight, dedication, perseverance, timely support and visionary effort have led to significant development of the University in leaps and bounds.

  About the Journal

Indian Journal of Physical Therapy and Research, a publication of KAHER Institute of Physiotherapy Belagavi, is a peer-reviewed print + online Semiannual journal. The journal's full text is available online at http://www.ijptr.org. The Journal encourages academicians, researchers and clinicians from various specialties of physiotherapy and rehabilitation to contribute, review and provide scientific work thereby encouraging evidence based practice.

Journal Ethics

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.

Advertisements

While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

  Scope of the journal

The journal will cover technical and clinical studies related to health, ethical and social issues in field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation related to orthopaedics oncology, women’s health, pediatric developmental issues, adult neurology, geriatric, manual therapy and sports rehabilitation. The Indian Journal of Physical therapy and Research imparts information on evidence based practice, encourages the translation of clinically relevant knowledge and binds this knowledge into education, practice and research to advance the practice of physiotherapy. Articles with clinical interest and implications will be given preference.
